Social media outlets are quite efficient at joining humans together, these days and I wanted to share "my twitter story" and maybe entertain you for a minute or two.
About ten years ago, I was talking to a friend about twitter. Jokingly, I said “twitter's a joke. Tweet Tweet!“ This friend was working for an organization supporting the department of emergency management in my area and I remember that she quickly changed my mind, when she put the thought in my head: that communication, now travels faster than the speed of sound!
Relatively speaking, not too long ago, a pony carrying a rider and mailbag, was the fastest form of communication across the land.
Needless, to say, I was intrigued at everything I learned from her, and I had to learn more.
About a year later, I found myself working marketing for two different companies, one of which was a non-profit; trying to spread the message of sustainability. I was making websites, blogging, and trying my best to reach out to the masses, while still working another full time job. 🤓 Long story short, I was happy to learn about the effectiveness of social media interactions to bring about changes for the better, and was honored to witness many successes transpire. I later used my new found "twitter and marketing skills" on two small businesses I ran, one of which I am still rolling with.
I have always been a kind of over-the-top optimist, and in this blog, I will continue that trend!
To back up and put things into perspective, several hundred years ago, communication existed in communities. (imagine that) 😆 Humans lived with their "tribes" completely unaware of what was happening anywhere else in the world. Today, in advanced and privileged societies, one can stream video and talk face to face with anyone on the planet in real time on a super computer held in their hand.
I guess, seeing an email sent for the first time when I was a kid, and believing it to be "magic," 🤨 I can appreciate the fact that communication, in general, has made a few quick jumps.
To continue, I am so very excited and amazed at all of the reformation humanity has undergone, with this ability to share information, to connect humans to other humans to make lasting changes. From movements organized on social media platforms, to the ability to live stream news; the truth of the matter is, that bad people can not get away with things as easily, and efforts can be made for a brighter future in all aspects of life.
And as Web3 arises, will social tools and the blockchain save the World? 😂Probably not. But it certainly can improve a thing or two!
As applications like twitter (spaces) and zoom, are replaced by the upgraded communication platforms of the Metaverse, it seems connectivity may become surreal.
I hope you enjoyed my ramblings on the power of social media. Any feedback?

Nice article. Harsh truth of evolving society. I believe the only way to change is to change from within!!
